Who we are
Water.Sofie.be is an independent Belgian niche project that helps travelers, expats and locals answer one concrete question: can I safely drink the tap water here? We publish in five languages (NL, EN, FR, DE, ES).
The project is maintained by a single editor with a background in public health and sustainability communication. We have no commercial ties to water utilities, filter manufacturers or tourism bodies.
Our method
Every country page is based on public sources: CDC Travelers' Health, WHO/GLAAS reports, the UNICEF/WHO Joint Monitoring Programme (washdata.org), EU Drinking Water Directive (EU) 2020/2184, and — where available — local water agencies.
We do not invent values. Where reliable data is missing we classify the status as 'unknown' rather than guess.
Independence & funding
The site is currently not monetised. Any future affiliate links for water filters or reusable bottles will be clearly marked and will not influence the editorial assessment.
Contact & corrections
