We comply with the EU GDPR, the Belgian Act of 30 July 2018, the Belgian Electronic Communications Act of 13 June 2005 (art. 129 — cookie law) and the ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC.
Data we process
We process as little personal data as possible. Technical server logs (IP, user-agent, timestamp, requested URL) are kept temporarily for security (max 30 days).
Statistics are collected only after explicit consent via the cookie banner and are anonymised (no full IP, no cross-site tracking, no profiling).
With your consent for 'Advertising' we serve ads via Google AdSense (publisher ca-pub-3508898700251977). Google may then set cookies and identifiers to show personalised or non-personalised ads, prevent fraud and measure ad performance. Google acts as a separate controller for that data — see https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads and https://policies.google.com/privacy.
We never sell personal data and do not use hidden trackers beyond what is described here.
Legal bases (art. 6 GDPR)
Server logs: legitimate interest (art. 6.1.f). Statistics and advertising (Google AdSense): consent (art. 6.1.a), freely withdrawable via 'Cookie settings' in the footer. Email contact: performance of your request (art. 6.1.b).
Retention
Server logs: 30 days. Consent record: 12 months (localStorage). Email: 24 months. Advertising data is retained per Google's policy (https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads).
Third parties and transfers outside the EEA
Hosting via Cloudflare (EU region where possible). For Google AdSense, personal data (including online identifiers and IP) may be transferred to Google LLC in the United States. Such transfer is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Commission adequacy decision of 10 July 2023) and/or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. No sale, no marketing transfers beyond this scope.
Your rights
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability (art. 15-22 GDPR) and the right to withdraw consent at any time without detriment. Email info@sofie.be. You may complain to the Belgian DPA (gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be), the Dutch AP (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or your national supervisory authority.
Children
The site contains general factual travel info and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly target ads at children and do not knowingly process personal data of children under 16 without parental consent. Contact info@sofie.be and we will delete promptly.
Changes
Material changes trigger an update of this page and, where required, a new consent request.
